Steps to Success

How to become a licensed Life Insurance Agent?

Register for the Pre-Licensing Course

    Most future agents complete the course in 8-12 days.
    This is why we have you schedule your exam 10-14 days out.

  1. Register via link https://prepare2pass.com/ffl
  2. Click: ENROLL NOW, then select YOUR STATE.
  3. Select Course: Life Pre-Licensing (Life only, not health). [Click cart]
  4. Apply the voucher code provided to you in your email after you confirmed your exam date.
  5. (If you have not done this refer back HERE before moving forward.)
  6. Click SIGN UP to create a NEW STUDENT ACCOUNT.
  7. Fill out the information, to gain access to the course.

Review Licensing Requirements By State

Schedule Exam for 10 - 14 days out

  • Find what vendor is authorized for your state.
    Pearson VUE, PSI Exams or Prometric
  • Schedule the LIFE exam only. Don't schedule Life and Health.

Inform Your Manager (and possibly Admin) of Exam Date

Study for State Exam

  • Complete all chapter quizzes (MUST BE COMPLETED WITH 70% OR BETTER)
  • Complete the Prep Course
  • Take the State Exam Simulator – Get at least an 85% prior to Taking Actual State Exam

Take – and Pass Your State Exam!

Update your manager!

Get Fingerprints Done : if your State Requires

Google “Fingerprinting Services” or call & ask your state’s Department of Insurance

Submit Exam Receipt & Fingerprints To The State

Get National Producer Number & Copy of State License

  • Once you have Passed your State Exam, it typically takes 48-72 Business Hours for the Testing Provider to Update your State Licensing Bureau
  • Call State’s Department of Insurance daily & ask them to check on your progress to speed up the process.
  • Print a Copy of your State Licensed once issued.
  • Send NPN & Copy of State License to Manager
